Planting an orchard is equivalent to a long-term investment: the fruit trees, in fact, require very long time to germinate, grow and produce. Careful planning becomes essential to start with the right foot: from the processing of the soil, the selection of the plants, by the timing of maintenance. All the activities should be designed and built with care to minimize the risk of failure.<\/p>\n

We discover what are the main stages from planning<\/strong>, with particular attention to the tillage of the soil for the orchard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How to design an orchard<\/h2>\n

To begin, you must have anarea<\/strong> wide enough, with a good exposure to the sun and sheltered from the winds. The land<\/strong> has its importance: it is fertile and well-balanced, clayey, or sandy? If you do not know its composition, before starting any cultivation is appropriate to do so analyze a chemical laboratory.<\/p>\n

The characteristics of the area and the composition of the soil are the key elements to choose from the variety of trees to be put in place<\/strong>; the resistance of plants to diseases, to reduce to a minimum any pesticide treatments, is another factor not to be underestimated.<\/p>\n

The last part of the design relates to the planting<\/strong>, or how to arrange the trees: the distance between a plant and the other shall be proportional to the size they will reach adulthood and wide enough to cut the grass, prune the branches without any problems.<\/p>\n

How to work the land for the orchard,<\/h2>\n

The first steps are to clean the area<\/strong> and make a first <\/strong>processing of the soil<\/strong>.<\/a><\/span> To speed up the cleaning you can use a brushcutter<\/strong>, while tilling the soil and prepare it to receive the fruit trees, it is useful to cultivator<\/strong>, perhaps fitted to the vomer. This allows you to get in-depth and breaking the clods more stubborn.<\/p>\n

Once the land has been cleaned and milled, you can proceed with the fertilization of the fund<\/strong> through a mix of organic compounds, and phosphorus, and potassium, followed by a spading deep to incorporate the best of the manure into the soil, creating the optimal conditions to put in place the first plants.<\/p>\n

At this point you can put in the work, the support poles<\/strong> for the hail nets, shading or antinsetto. It may seem like an investment, which is not strictly necessary, but these protections are essential to take shelter from possible damage.<\/p>\n

Completed these stages, the fruit trees can now be planted. While you dig the the hole<\/strong> is about 50x50x50 cm, it is good to remember to separate the earth to respect the original stratification of the soil when the plant<\/strong> will be placed in straight, with the engagement point of 15-20 cm above the ground, the hole will be covered, bringing in the first 20-30 cm all the nutrients and microorganisms that are active.
It is advisable to add the manure to the land surface and, if necessary, attach a brace to support and aid the plant during growth.<\/p>\n

The timing and maintenance of the orchard<\/h2>\n

Generally fruit trees bring a home between October and November<\/strong> but if they are in a vase already 3-4 years, the operation, you can postpone to late winter\/early spring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The method of irrigation<\/strong> depends on the size of the orchard: if it is small you can easily water them with the water hose; if large, should opt for an irrigation system.<\/p>\n

Every year, during the summer, the cleaning of the inter-row<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, sfalciando the grass with a lawnmower, lawnmower or trimmer, is to be made with constancy and regularity.<\/p>\n
